It was our last day of the North Sikkim trip. We were to cover Yumthang Valley and return to Gangtok today. The hotel had a beautiful view and flowers bloomed in every corner of the area.
Our journey began to Yumthang valley early in the morning. The roads had amazing view while on the way to Yumthang Valley.
Breakfast was provided at the small shop cum cafe near Yumthang Valley. It also had a small shop attached where we could rent out gloves, jackets, snow boots and so on. And yes we could purchase as well. Yumthang Valley was at 5 minutes distance from here. There were heavy breeze in Yumthang valley and we could not stand for more than 10 minutes. The valley was dull that day and flowers were yet to bloom. So I could not click much pictures. I was not that satisfied with the place.
As per our tour, zero point was not a part of the itinerary. But i read on many of the blogs, that we can ask driver to take us to the zero point. Since ours was shared cab, driver had asked for INR 3,000 extra for zero point, so individually we could contribute INR 300 per person. It is another 30 minutes from the Yumthang valley. One of the kid from our cab started vomiting, so the two families cancelled the plan of coming to the zero point. We were left with one more couple who really wished to see the zero point. We convinced the driver and somehow he agreed for INR 2000 to zero point from Yumthang valley, so individually it came to INR 500 each. The sight to the zero point was amazing. Beautiful turns and snow covered mountains. Lovely sight. We clicked lots of pics.
We did not have any altitude sickness there and played for more than 30 minutes in the snow. One of the place where we clicked hell of pics. We enjoyed this place the most.
And then began our return journey to Lachung. On our return journey as well, we came across beautiful sight. As it was approaching afternoon time, the snow had started melting.
By the way, on our way back to Lachung, I spotted a beautiful lake. It was more amazing than the Pangong lake, you can see the picture below.
We were back to our hotel for lunch. After lunch we left and reached Gangtok by 8 PM. We stopped at Seven Sisters waterfall for 20 minutes. This is how our 3 days North Sikkim tour ended.
We checked into the Grand Central hotel at night.
We quickly got refreshed and went to Lal Bazar. Since it was Thursday it was closed. We had earlier booked our trip to Nathula pass through agent. When we called him back, he told that the trip has been canceled due to roadblocks. We asked lots of other local tour operators too and ultimately we had to cancel our trip. We could not sit idle the next day, and had to plan something interesting. We booked a cab for local sight seeing. The local tour agent quoted us INR 2500 while we negotiated with the driver directly and got the deal for INR 1800 for 10 point local sight seeing. So, always catch hold of some driver and directly negotiate with them.
