Leh Trip – Day 2

Today was the day for local sightseeing in Ladakh. We had our breakfast at the hotel, and started our journey by the same cab. The guide accompanied us in our cab. We were a total of 4 cabs which were booked through Yatra.

The first point was Hall of Fame on the Kargil road. The Hall of Fame is a museum constructed by Indian Army. We were shown a Kargil war based movie and how India won the war with the help of locals. The cloths, roadmaps and all details about Indian Army is available here. It is an amazing experience to know and understand the Indian army and we are so glad that because of Indian army we can sleep peacefully at night. There was a souvenir section as well. We purchased lots of kesar packets for gifting (INR 300 per packet)  and some Kashmiri shawls. The shawls ranged from few hundreds to few thousands rupees.

One more special thing about this place, is we can see the flight landing from the temple. The temple is beautiful and silent. One can meditate here and receive positive energy from the goddess. This is one of the rare temple where you will find buddhist monks inside.

Next stop was Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. It was not that crowded the day we reached. When we reached, there was a mild storm. We got a nice darshan and lunagr was being offered. We shared langar amongst us and left to the next stop to Zanskar river. We could not click pics because of the mild storm. But surely clicked pics of the mountains and roads on the way to our next destination.

On our way we stopped at magnetic hill. Here the vehicle moves on its own if put in neautral gear. It defies the law of gravity. It is one of a kind in India. Below is the pic clicked while driving on the Leh roads.

Zanskar and Indus river confluence was our next point of view. The two shades of water from both rivers is clearly visible from this point. The location is picturesque and one can click beautiful pictures of valley. Rivers are frozen during the winters. Water rafting is also available though we did not try it. The winds were strong and weather was a bit rough. We could not go near to water as it was freezing cold. There is a small cafe at the spot. We just freshened up a bit and had momos and started with our return journey to the hotel.
